‘Yucky’ Toenails

“Manky” or “Yucky”toe nail – You won’t find these terms in a text book, but its what people often refer to their nails as when they describe them to me when I ask them about what is bothering them that they want my help with.

Often what they mean is their nail looks odd, the nail may be getting thicker, or it might have changed colour, gone yellow, or more crumbly, or even it might be a curved shape and ‘digging in’ or it might even be what we call an ‘ingrown’ toe nail. This is where the nail pokes into the skin, starts weeping, goes red and or swollen and sometimes they might get a spongy red lump on the side (we call this hypergranulation tissue, its where the body is working overtime to heal itself up but it cant because of the nail splinter sticking into the skin).

If you have any of these problems or even something else not on this list, I bet I can still help.

One of the things I pride myself on is my nail reconstruction or remodelling work, these are really helpful for people who have a partial nail that may have been damaged at some point. They want a ‘normal looking’ nail so they can confidently wear sandals in the summer or go on holiday or wear peep toe shoes for a wedding.  I am meticulous to get a good, natural looking result with these, so it can take quite a bit of time.

You can judge for yourself from the before and after pics.
